Sobo SB-333 Aquarium Sponge Filter – Compact Enclosed Bio-Sponge with Ceramic Media Chamber
The Sobo SB-333 is an enclosed airlift sponge filter with a ceramic media chamber, giving stronger, more even biological filtration than a bare-sponge filter — ideal for nano tanks, breeding setups, shrimp enclosures or as a reliable secondary filter. Its acrylic cylinder forces water directly through the foam so there are no dead spots, while the dedicated ceramic chamber adds extra biological media. Gentle and fry-safe, it keeps water crystal-clear and well-oxygenated.
Why choose the Sobo SB-333?
- Enclosed acrylic cylinder forces water through the foam — no dead spots, better filtration.
- Ceramic media chamber adds dedicated biological filtration beyond the sponge.
- Airlift powered — quiet, gentle and fry- and shrimp-safe.
- Strong oxygenation as the airlift circulates and agitates water.
- Compact, perfect for nano and breeding tanks or as a back-up filter.

Which tanks is it best for?
The SB-333 suits nano tanks, breeding setups and shrimp enclosures, and works well as a secondary biological filter in larger tanks. The enclosed design and ceramic chamber make it more effective than a plain sponge filter. For a larger version see the Sobo SB-533. It needs an air pump and airline.
How to set it up
Connect airline from an air pump, place the filter in the tank, and let the airlift pull water through the foam and ceramic media. Keep it running 24/7 and rinse the foam in old tank water (never tap water) when flow slows. Learn more in aquarium filter media guide.
