Neoregelia 'Rose Hybrid' blushes in soft rose and pink across a neat medium rosette, a romantic, endlessly styleable centrepiece. Neoregelias are among the most popular bromeliads for planted terrariums and vivariums, grown for the colour held in their leaves rather than for their flowers; each plant forms a low rosette with a watertight central cup.

Origin and form

The Neoregelia genus comes from the rainforests of eastern Brazil, where the plants grow as epiphytes on branches and among leaf litter. 'Rose Hybrid' carries warm rose tones that deepen as light increases and soften towards green in shade.

Propagation

Each rosette flowers once, then sends out pups around its base. Detach them when they reach about a third of the parent's size to grow on, so one plant slowly becomes many.
