At a glance

Why Algae Treats work for herbivorous fish

• Spirulina-rich: spirulina is a well-known algae ingredient that supports colour and immunity in plant-eating fish.
• Sinking pellets: they reach plecos and other bottom feeders that rarely come to the surface.
• Plant-based: a gentle recipe that supports clean digestion with low waste, so the water stays cleaner.
• Handmade in India: no artificial fillers.

Who it is for (and who should pick something else)

Choose Algae Treats for plecos, otocinclus-type algae eaters and other herbivores that graze on the bottom. If you prefer a wafer shape that stays put for slow overnight grazing, look at Life Aayu Algae Wafer Fish Food. For loaches, Life Aayu Tropical Loaches is made for them, and for Corydoras and small catfish, Life Aayu Tropical Corydoras food is a better fit.

It is not a staple for strict carnivores such as flowerhorns or arowanas. For those, pick a protein food like Life Aayu Bug Protein Bites. Algae Treats also do not replace algae control in your tank: they are food, not an algae remover.

How to feed

• Portion: feed only what your fish finish in a few minutes. For shy or nocturnal plecos, drop the pellets in after lights-out and check the tank next morning.
• Frequency: once or twice a day. Many plecos do well with one evening feed plus any natural algae in the tank.
• Variety: plecos also appreciate blanched vegetables and driftwood, so use pellets as part of the diet rather than all of it.
• Clean-up: remove uneaten pellets to keep the water clean.
• Storage: keep the pack cool, dry and sealed.

Frequently asked questions

What are Life Aayu Algae Treats?

They are handmade, spirulina-rich sinking herbal pellets for herbivorous and bottom-feeding fish. The recipe is plant-based and made in India without artificial fillers. They are meant as a regular feed for plecos and similar grazers, not as a medicine or an algae remover.

Are Algae Treats good for plecos?

Yes, they are made with plecos in mind. The pellets sink, and the plant-based, spirulina-rich recipe suits herbivores. Pair them with blanched vegetables and driftwood for a more complete pleco diet.

Do the pellets sink or float?

They sink. That makes them a good match for bottom feeders and for tanks where faster mid-water fish would otherwise eat everything first. Drop them in after lights-out if your fish are nocturnal.

How much should I feed?

Feed once or twice a day, only as much as the fish finish in a few minutes. For nocturnal plecos, a small amount in the evening is usually enough. Remove leftovers the next morning so they do not break down in the water.

Can I feed Algae Treats to community fish?

Yes, community omnivores will often nibble them, but they are designed for plant-eaters. If your tank is mostly meat-eaters, use a protein-rich staple instead and keep these for the herbivores.
