Aechmea 'Malva' is prized for its soft, mauve-toned colouring, a gently coloured bromeliad that brings a calm, sophisticated note to terrariums, vivariums and paludariums. Aechmeas are epiphytic bromeliads (family Bromeliaceae, the same tropical group as the pineapple) that hold water in a central vase, or cup. Origin and form

Aechmeas come from the forests of Central and South America, growing on trees in bright, filtered light. 'Malva' forms the classic water-holding rosette washed with soft mauve tones that deepen and warm in bright, indirect light, giving a calm, sophisticated look.
