Aechmea 'Harvey's Pride' is a collector-favourite hybrid prized for its softly marbled, mottled foliage, a subtle, sophisticated bromeliad for terrariums, vivariums and paludariums. Aechmeas are epiphytic bromeliads (family Bromeliaceae, the same tropical group as the pineapple) that hold water in a central vase, or cup. Origin and form

Aechmeas come from the forests of Central and South America, growing on trees in bright, filtered light. 'Harvey's Pride' forms the classic water-holding rosette, its leaves washed with soft marbling and mottling that give a natural, understated look against wood and stone. Propagation

Each rosette flowers once, then produces offsets, or "pups," around its base. Let a pup reach about a third of the parent's size, then separate and pot it on to grow your collection.
